When Larry Bendfeld sent me photos of these mills, I said yes immediately. When they arrived, I was stunned.
These belong in a museum.
Crafted by Larry from his studio in Stony Plain, Alberta, each mill is built from precisely cut segmented wedges of Walnut and Ash — dark walnut panels separated by paper-thin slices of Ash, and light Ash panels framed by the finest slivers of Walnut — laminated vertically and turned on the lathe into a form that stops people in their tracks. The contrast, the symmetry, the sheer patience required to produce this... it's not woodworking. It's sculpture.
At the heart of each mill is a Crushgrind® ceramic grinding mechanism — the benchmark in quality, made in Denmark — ensuring these pieces perform as beautifully as they look.
