Elm dies naturally due to Dutch Elm Disease, which is a fungus that invades the tree. After the tree dies, bugs get in between the bark and the wood and carve out these amazing tracks as they move around. Ash suffers the same fate from the Emerald Ash Borer, but has the same colours as Elm, and features the cool bug galleries.
