My favorite type of wood to find, especially when I peel the bark off, not knowing the wood is spalted beneath, and see what I've found. Spalting happens when a mold gets in under the bark, and changes the colour to a much lighter tone.
In addition to spalting, this piece has a very unique spine like feature up the length. The pictures simply do not do it justice.
